Introduction Helping Hand
Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world. About one third of the people live in poverty.
Helping Hand operates in the capital Phnom Penh, in one of the poorest communities of the city.
We started off with simply sponsoring individual children to enable them to go to school, and have along the way expanded our activities to support the community on a larger scale.
Our activities have expanded from sponsoring individual children's educations to an afterschool facility, in which extra tutoring is provided as well as access to computers and internet; as well as providing rice, food, medical and other assistance in the community.
Being a fairly small organization, we are able to ensure that the vast majority (more than 99% of our funding) is spent directly in Cambodia.
Education is a child’s best chance of escaping to a better future.
